Dear Rodney,
I believe the note specified by Caetano should resolve the issue. Otherwise, you can create a sort profile and add it to user parameter, as below:
Choose say order start date descending as sort criteria
Save this as sort profile.
Now in user parameter, choose the parameter SPO and value as sort profile id.
